Honoring Someone We Lost

August 27, 2026 · Onsight

After losing someone, the hardest part isn't a specific date. It's the unguarded everyday moments.

Passing the noodle shop he loved. Hearing a song she used to hum. Seeing the seasoning he bought still in the fridge. You freeze, feel an empty space in your chest, then force yourself to keep moving.

You still have their photos on your phone, but you don't dare look often. Every time you tap and the screen lights up, but they're not there — that gap hurts more than not looking.

Instead, choose the photo where they smiled their best, or how they looked when young, and make it into a keepsake on your desk. Not to constantly remind yourself of "loss," but to tell yourself "I had them."

When you make coffee in the morning and see him on your desk, today doesn't feel so hard to start. When you come home late from work and see her, you feel someone is still waiting for you. It's not an illusion. It's the power of memory.

They're gone, but the love they gave you isn't. Turn that love into something you can see every day.

Turn your most precious memory into a keepsake that keeps you company.
